Memorial Day marks the beginning of grilling season for our family.  If it can go on the grill believe me it will everything from corn on the cob, ribs, dogs, burgers, kabobs, and even pizza - all gluten free of course.  Remember if you are grilling on a grill that also cooks non-gluten free food, to use fresh tin foil over the grates before you grill.  In our house we just got a new grill once everyone was gluten free and we do not have to be concerned with cross contamination.  I am sharing our family secret recipe for BBQ sauce with you this Holiday weekend.  Use it on ribs, chicken, pork chops and even as a dipping sauce.  For the full rib recipe pick up a copy of Mom Certified Celebrates Heritage.

Bourban BBQ Sauce

1/2 medium onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 cup bourban whiskey
1 cup ketchup
1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup worcestershire sauce
1 tsp tabasco
1/4 cup molasses
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tbs kosher salt
1/4 cup tomato paste
2 tbs liquid smoke
1/4 cup brown sugar

Combine onion, garlic, and bourban in a saucepan. Saute until onion and garlic are soft, about 10 minutes.

Add remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil; reduce heat.

Simmer, uncovered, 20 minutes, stirring constantly.

Notes: place in canning jars while still hot to store away.
