Big News in the celiac community!  If you haven't heard Advocate Children's Hospital in Park Ridge has launched a pediatric celiac center.  I had the honor to attend the kick off event and meet some fabulous people. The night was filled with great gfree food, people and information. Read the full press release here.

The center is staffed with amazing doctors including Dr. Garcia-Alvarez and has a library for patients that include gfree cookbooks.

The Pediatric Celiac Center is a premier regional destination for children with celiac disease. Services offered include a board-certified pediatric gastroenterologist specializing in celiac disease providing full diagnostic and ongoing medical care, a registered dietitian assisting you every step of the way, and a nutrition counseling service including label reading, restaurant eating and cooking at home.

Celiac disease is one of the most common inherited diseases, with 1 in 133 people in the US effected. If left untreated it may result in nutrition deficiencies, osteoporosis and development of other disorders including type 1 diabetes.  If your child experiences symptoms including poor growth, short stature, weight loss, anemia, bloating, diarrhea, constipation, fatigue, irritability or allergy eyes please call the center for an appointment.

The Pediatric Celiac Center is hosting a gluten free halloween party this year on Saturday, Oct 25 from 12 - 2pm - click her for more information. Visit https://healthadvisor.advocatehealth.com/classes and type class code 8P43 in the box.
